Aromatic Description: Spicy, warming yet slightly bitter, woody, reminiscent of true clove buds, but richer. It is a spicy and penetrating aroma with a fruity top note and a woody base note.

Aromatherapy Properties: (Uses) Must be diluted, clove bud oil is safer to use than clove leaf due to its lower eugenol content. It should never be used directly on the skin or in large concentrations. Clove bud oil lifts depression and is recommended as an inhalation when feeling weak and lethargic. It's excellent as an antiseptic because of the high proportion of eugenol. It helps stimulate digestion, restores appetite and relieves flatulence. The dental value of cloves is well know, the oil has been traditionally used to relieve toothaches. It's also effective against diarrhea, vomiting, spasms. Can help rheumatism, arthritis and mouth sores.

Pure & Therapeutic Essential Oils :

This oil is Therapeutic Grade. Commercial Grade essential oils are usually made of the left over plant materials after finishing the therapeutic distillation process. The commercial grade oils retain a robust fragrance suitable for soap making, candle making, as well as cosmetic manufacturing. Unfortunately, because of the reduced active therapeutic content, the commercial grade oils will not be suitable for aromatherapy or massage therapy applications. Silky Scents Essential Oils are all Pure and Therapeutic Grade, not Commercial Grade.

Blends well with: Basil, Cinnamon, Citronella, Orange, and Peppermint.

History: The word clove comes from the Latin word clavus, meaning nail, since the shaft and head of the clove bud resembles a nail. Cloves and nutmeg were among the most precious of items of Europe of the 16th and 17th centuries, and they were worth more than their weight in gold.
